Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association Office of the Education and Research Director

Ms. Jarvis Robinetta “Robin” Barnes, a native of Statesboro, Georgia was born to James R. and Jarvis W. Barnes. Robin attended Tuskegee University where she received a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Accounting in May 2004. Upon graduation, she gave birth to a handsome son, Jamesin Bernard Scott in August 2004. In September 2004, Robin followed in her parents’ footsteps by earning an associate degree in Funeral Service at Ogeechee Technical College. Upon graduation in 2005, she successfully passed the National Board Exam. Robin completed her apprenticeship and became a licensed funeral
director and embalmer in 2007.

Growing up in the funeral business was never an option; Robin has been attending funerals since she was a month old. She began her funeral service career in August 2007 working for her father at James R. Barnes Mortuary.

Robin’s formal career in funeral service has afforded her the opportunity to work with some of the best in the profession: James R. Barnes at James R. Barnes Mortuary (Statesboro, Georgia); David Campbell at Sidney A. Jones and Campbell Funeral Services (Savannah, Georgia); J. Vernard Flowers at Sylvania Funeral Home of Savannah (Savannah, Georgia); and Jarvis W. Barnes at A. L. Spaulding-Barnes Funeral Home (McRae, Georgia) and C.M. Brown Funeral Home (Baxley, Georgia).

Robin is a member of Georgia Funeral Service Practitioners Association (GFSPA), 1st District. She currently serves as 1st District Treasurer and State Director of Research and Education
